Protected sessions

Add a passphrase access layer before opening a workflow session.

Protected sessions add an extra passphrase before you can open a workflow run. They help reduce casual access to an in-progress session on a shared machine or team workspace.

Protection is an additional access layer — not encryption of session content. Workspace members with normal access may still see session metadata in lists; the passphrase gates opening the session runner.

Protected badge

Sessions with protection enabled show a Protected badge in the Sessions list and related session controls.

When protection applies

You can require a passphrase:

  • When starting a session — enable Require session passphrase in the start dialog
  • On an existing active session — choose Lock session from session controls

Unlock to open

When you open a protected session, WorkCheats asks for the passphrase before showing the session runner.

  • Enter the correct passphrase and choose Unlock session to continue.
  • An incorrect passphrase shows an error and does not open the session.
  • After a successful unlock, you can work in the session until you sign out, your access expires, or you lock the session again.

WorkCheats does not display your passphrase in the UI after you set it.

Lock and remove protection

On an active session you can:

  • Lock now — require the passphrase again before the next open
  • Remove lock — disable protection; you must enter the current passphrase to confirm

Failed unlock cooldown

After too many incorrect unlock attempts, WorkCheats temporarily blocks further attempts. You will see a message to wait and try again.

This cooldown applies to unlock and to some lock-management actions that require passphrase verification. It is a abuse-protection measure — not a substitute for strong passphrases or workspace access controls.

Read-only and archived sessions

Passphrase protection applies to active sessions you can open. Completed, stopped, or archived workflow sessions follow the normal read-only rules described in Sessions.

Security expectations

  • Choose a passphrase you can remember; WorkCheats cannot recover a lost passphrase for you.
  • Do not share passphrases in chat, tickets, or screenshots.
  • Protection does not replace workspace permissions, MFA, or your organisation's access policies.
